Message - Is Digital Design Desirable?

Hi, im writing an essay on computers in architecture and i was wondering if anyone has any thoughts:
Increasingly, computers and the relevant software are being used in the process of architectural design. Whilst this has apparent benefits in terms of realising initial design ideas - think Gehry and Bilbao, it is also becoming a generative tool. Does anybody else see this as a worrying development? could this result in an architecture that is not merely detached from reality, but completely seperate from reality - existing soley in virtual reality? a return to an architecure deficient in terms of site specification, and perhaps relevance to people individually and society at large.
