Well According to the Graduate Careers Council of Australia the average starting salary for a Architect is $30,000, part of the low wage is due to the fact that you as a graduate have not yet become accredited. I know in the states we have to work for a certain amount of time as an intern and also pass some test before we are awarded a prfessional license. I several friend who have just completed their test and are becoming licensed and they've assured me that their salaries will be increasing.
I'm sure Ken will jump in here to be an asshole but I'd reccomend you really make the decision yourself. I really enjoy designing and sculpting. You may want to give the first year a shot and see how you like it. I won't lie, Architecture Schools a notoriously tough but they also bring out an amazing amount of passion in people. You have to decide whether your in it for the money or because it's really what you want to do. Personally I enjoy doing what I'm doing whether I'm paid or not, I had a job a few years ago that paid great but I couldn't hardly make it through the work day and I was less happy than I would have been had I been doing what I'm doing now and not getting paid. For me I'll take the personal satisfaction anyday.
