From the American and European perspective, there is an abundance of material on cinemas (theatres meant primarily to show films) in these sites:

www.HistoricTheatres.org (see their link on their sidebar: BOOKSHOP)

www.CinemaTreasures.org (a listing of cinemas/theatres around the world.)

www.CinemaTour.com (listing of theatres with articles and "RESEARCH ROOM")

GO TO WWW.AMAZON.COM and type in THEATER ARCHITECTURE in their SEARCH box and you will find hundreds of books from around the world, mostly in English, but in other languages too. Copy down the titles/authors of interest to you and take them to your nearest library and see if they can order them for you.
