If the profession is dwindling it's because guys like you discourage it all the more. What excuse have you for letting it go by as such anyways? Regardless of your status, pay rate, etc. nobody in the field should feel content or excuse themselves for not making it better. I honestly am not going into this for the money. The idea of building something for someone is something i know will be rewarding. That's my paycheck.

Also, it's a well-known fact that architectural education sucks. I'm in my senior year of my undergrad and feel somewhat embarrassed that I am paying for something and not getting more in return. In my opinion, changing the profession (for better or worse) starts at the academic level.
