dont listen to either of those people... I got into CMU and risd and chose risd because i am also an artist, and didnt want to be stuck in a technical enviroment such as CMU. The funny thing is im from chicago and didn't even think about applying to IIT, because it isnt a good school. The fact of the matter is that it hasn't been a good school since Mies left. The faciclities are bad the teachers arent good and the school still tries to follow an outdated mies philosophy. The school is also very technical and shouldnt even be considered an architecture school. RISD is your best bet because you'll be close to home and your education will be worth the money youre paying for it. Oh yeah, this year risd was ranked 4th in the country for its b arch program...not that ranking matters but prestige does matter when youre getting a job and risd fufills that need.
